Mahmoud Abbas Lantang At The United Nations: Stop Sending Weapons To Israel, Gaza Is Completely Destroyed

JAKARTA - Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas told the UN General Assembly around the world was responsible for what was happening in Gaza and the West Bank.

Stop killing children and women, stop genocide, stop sending weapons to Israel. This magic cannot continue. The whole world is responsible for what happened to our people in Gaza and the West Bank," Abbas said in his opening speech, reported by CNN, Thursday, September 26.

Abbas said Gaza was now no longer recognized and called on the international community to impose sanctions on Israel.

"Seventy-five percent of everything in Gaza has been completely destroyed," Abbas said.

Abbas criticized the US for vetoing a resolution against Israel at the UN Security Council and for providing Israel with weapons that have been used to kill thousands of innocent civilians.

"Israel is inappropriate to be a member of the United Nations and says they have not met UN membership requirements," he said.

Currently, world leaders are in New York City to attend the 79th UN General Assembly to discuss global issues and highlight the priorities of their country.

The official speech began on Tuesday morning, with the war in Gaza dominating attention.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to speak on Friday, September 27.
