JAKARTA - Former Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Agus Rahardjo plans to sue the General Elections Commission (KPU) regarding the election results for DPD members in the East Java region.
He objected to KPU Decree Number 1207 of 2024 concerning the Determination of Elected Candidates and Interim Substitute Candidates for Members of the Regional Representative Council in the General Election in 2024.
Meanwhile, Agus ran as a candidate for DPD members from East Java and received the fifth most votes so he did not qualify. Meanwhile, the fourth winner, namely Kondang Kusumaning, did not meet the requirements because he was still serving as a staff at the DPD.
"The legal team has submitted an objection to the KPU and is preparing to file a lawsuit to the Administrative Court if there are no positive developments in the past few days," Agus' attorney, Febri Diansyah, said in a written statement, Wednesday, September 25.
Febri said the KPU should have canceled the results achieved by Kondang. And as a substitute for determining Agus Rahardjo because it was proven that he did not meet the administrative requirements of DPD members," he said.
In addition to taking legal action, Febri said Agus Rahardjo had already held an audience and received by the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) on Wednesday, September 25.
