JAKARTA - Chairman of the DPP PDIP Said Abdullah emphasized that the main factor determining the victory in the 2024 Regional Head Election (Pilkada) was the achievement and track record of the candidate pair (paslon) figure. According to Said, the election is a figure battle.

"Pilkada is a battle for figures. What is'sold' to the people is the figure, regarding achievements, track records, his political communication skills with voters, winning strategies, logistical support, social networks, and others," Said said in his statement, Tuesday, September 24.

Said emphasized that he did not intend to dwarf the party that carried it. However, whatever it is, voters still see the figures being promoted. According to him, there will be a large split ticket voting in the 2024 Pilkada.

"In our survey, we often hear split ticket voting, namely supporters of party A support unquenched candidates. They choose to support figures in regional elections that are supported by party B because they are considered to have more fulfillment of their hopes," he explained.

"The split ticket voting factor in this regional election is quite large. Because it is not necessarily at the elite level in line with the aspirations of the grassroots. Considering a situation like this, I think the regional elections will be more dynamic. Thus we cannot be fixated on just the formality of political cooperation," he added.

Said also mentioned the formation of political cooperation between the Advanced Indonesia Coalition (KIM) plus in a number of regions and against PDIP. According to him, this reality must be read in the political context after the 2024 Presidential and Vice Presidential Election (Pilpres) and before the issuance of the Constitutional Court's decision Number 60 on August 20, 2024.

"If I read, at that time there were indeed a number of wishes from a number of political elites who wanted to repeat the success of the presidential election in the regional elections. However, after the emergence of the Constitutional Court Decision Number 60 of 2024 and the emergence of a number of regional head candidates, the political map has changed," he explained.

Said gave an example in the election of the Governor and Deputy Governor (Pilgub) of Jakarta who initially exchanged Ridwan Kamil from West Java to Jakarta as well as to deal with Anies Baswedan. However, he said, after the Constitutional Court's decision and the emergence of Pramono Anung as a candidate to make the political map change.

"The emergence of the name Mas Pramono Anung, I think the map has also changed. Mas Pram's figure is a common ground between Pak Jokowi, Pak Prabowo and Mrs. Mega. This new political fact is what we must pay attention to, so that it is not merely fixated on formalistic political cooperation," he said.

Likewise, Said said, with the emergence of Andika Perkasa's figure in Central Java. Whatever it is, he said, Andika had been a'symbol' because she had served as the top leader of the TNI, namely the commander. He admitted that Andika Perkasa's background could not be underestimated.

"I think this situation has also changed the pilkada map in Central Java. Moreover, Mr. Andika is also in good relations with Pak Jokowi and Pak Prabowo. In fact, Mr. Andika was once Pak Jokowi's assistant while serving as Paspampres commander who guarded Mr. Jokowi 24 hours while on duty or was not on duty," he explained.
