Kompolnas Waits For Evidence Of Case 7 Teenagers Died In Bekasi River

The National Police Commission (Kompolnas) is waiting for evidence according to facts related to the alleged death of seven teenagers as a result of throwing themselves into the river during a brawl out of fear of police patrols.

"Regarding allegations of teenagers jumping into the river for fear of patrol police, Kompolnas is waiting for evidence according to the facts," said Commissioner of Kompolnas Poengky Indarti as reported by ANTARA, Monday, September 23.

Poengky also explained that it was the duty of the police to prevent crimes and maintain maintenance, security and public order (harkamtibmas) by patrol so that Kompolnas supports the implementation of routine patrols.

"In order for the community to help the Police prevent crimes, parents can protect and prevent their children from participating in juvenile delinquency such as brawls, robbery, street convoys that disturb the public," he said.

Poengky also encouraged Polda Metro Jaya and Polres Metro Bekasi City to carry out an investigation supported by "scientific crime investigation" so that the results were indisputable.

"Kompolnas hopes that the examination will be carried out carefully, not in a hurry and involve experts," he said.

He also hopes that the public will patiently wait for the results of the examination.

"We are sure that Polda Metro Jaya will be transparent in uncovering this case," he said.

Kompolnas will oversee the handling of this case. "We also hope that if there are families who have lost their family members, who are suspected of being one of 7 bodies, they will immediately report to the Kramat Jati Police Hospital so that all of them can be identified," said Poengky.

The police confirmed that the bodies of seven teenage boys found in Bekasi River, Pondok Gede Permai Housing, Jatiasih District, Bekasi City, West Java, were the perpetrators of the brawl.

Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General Karyoto confirmed that the seven bodies were teenagers who were involved in a brawl on Saturday (21/9) in the morning.

"They threw themselves into the river because of fear of patrols passing by or reprimanding him. We are investigating how far he was reprimanded," he said in Bekasi, Sunday (22/9).

From the confession of the victim's friend who was caught, said the Kapolda, they will celebrate their birthday. However, the police did not find a birthday cake and only got a sharp weapon (sajam).

"Earlier the information was said to be a birthday. Which birthday is the cake? The place is impossible to have a birthday here. And what shows more is that there are a few sajams," he said.
