65 Civil Servants Of DKI Satpol PP Involved In Online Gambling, DPRD: Must Take Strict Action!

JAKARTA - Jakarta DPRD member Dwi Rio Sambodo asked the Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono to take firm action against 165 civil servants of the DKI Satpol PP who were involved in playing online gambling, referring to the findings of the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK).

The firm action, according to Rio, has been stated in Government Regulation Number 94 of 2021 concerning Civil Servant Discipline (PNS) and other criminal law.

"There must be firm and continuous action against all DKI civil servants to comply with the Discipline of Civil Servants Included in PP No. 94 of 2021, Article 3. Included in the Criminal Code Article 303 concerning offline and online gambling," Rio told reporters, Saturday, September 21.

Members of the PDIP faction of the DKI DPRD assessed that the findings of DKI Jakarta Provincial Government employees who were involved in online gambling tarnished the face of the Jakarta bureaucracy when bureaucratic reform was underway.

Rio emphasized that the Bureau of Organization and Bureaucratic Reform (ORB) of the Regional Secretariat of DKI Jakarta Province must be stronger in evaluating the behavior of Jakarta ASN, including strengthening a work culture with integrity and responsibility.

"The effectiveness of a rule will be seen from how consistency is applied. Don't just move new cases. I'm sure if the solution is only a case per case, this online gambling problem will continue to roll up like a snowball," said Rio.

PPATK found 165 civil servants in the DKI Jakarta Satpol PP playing online gambling. From there, the DKI Jakarta Inspectorate also sent a letter to the Head of the DKI Jakarta Satpol PP Arifin to convey this. The letter numbered e.0519/P4.01.00 which was signed on September 10, 2024.

"We hereby convey that based on PPATK data sources, there are 165 civil servants in your work environment who are indicated to be carrying out online gambling activities, with names as attached," wrote DKI Jakarta Inspectorate Secretary Dina Himawati in a letter.

In the letter, the names of civil servants who carry out online gambling activities and the nominal transactions they carry out. The DKI Jakarta Inspectorate also asked Arifin to provide guidance to his employees.

"In this regard, so that you immediately clarify and provide personnel guidance by referring to the provisions governing the discipline and code of ethics of Civil Servants," said Dina.

Some time ago, Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono indeed asked the identity data of online gambling players in Jakarta to the Online Judi Eradication Task Force. After obtaining this data, Heru will look for anyone from the DKI Provincial Civil Servants (ASN) and recipients of social assistance (bansos) who play online gambling.

Heru emphasized that he would impose sanctions on ASN DKI Jakarta Provincial Government who were caught playing online gambling. The sanctions are regulated in Government Regulation (PP) Number 94 of 2021 concerning Civil Servant Discipline.
