Garut Regency Government Combs Residents' Houses Damaged Due To The Bandung Earthquake

GARUT - The Garut Regency Government, West Java, combed residents' houses and public facilities damaged by the earthquake to obtain accurate data before taking further steps to provide assistance.

"The last night at 11 pm was at 1,107 (house units and public facilities), I don't know how many today," said Head of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) who is also the Regional Secretary of Garut Regency, Nurdin Yana, to reporters in Garut, Antara, Thursday, September 19.

He said that since Wednesday night the Garut Regency Government had determined an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.0 located in Bandung as a disaster emergency response status.

Setelah penetapan status, pihaknya juga bergerak untuk memastikan semua korban bencana alam mendapat penanganan, termasuk didata dampak kerusakannya.

"I have ordered BPBD friends in particular and related SKPD according to their respective functions," he said.

He said, based on reports in the field, there were six sub-districts affected by the earthquake, namely Pasirwangi, Sukaresmi, Cibiuk, Tarogong Kaler, Samararang, and Cisurupan.

According to him, a large area was affected by the earthquake, namely Pasirwangi District in the Garut mountain area.

"This (damage) spread across six sub-districts, although others there was an incident, the biggest one was in the Pasirwangi area," he said.

He added that regarding the level of damage to residents' houses and public facilities such as schools, it was still under assessment, the category of damage could not be ascertained.

"Although we have not confirmed the qualifications, this time there are more damage than the case (data) yesterday," he said.
