Bandung Earthquake, Health Facilities And Police Stations Reportedly Damaged

The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of West Java Province said that the earthquake measuring 5 magnitudes in Bandung Regency had an impact on public facilities, ranging from health facilities to police stations.

Based on information from BPBD West Java, the earthquake that occurred in Tarumajaya, Cihawuk and Cibereum villages, Kertasari District, Bandung Regency, had an impact on two health facilities, namely one unit in Cihawuk Village, and another unit in Cibereum Village.

The earthquake, which is 24 kilometers from Soreang, the center of Bandung Regency, also caused damage to a unit of the Polsek building in Cibereum Village and a building unit of the Office of Religious Affairs (KUA) in Cibereum Village.

"The damage to the houses and affected victims is still in the assessment stage," the statement said.

Head of Emergency for West Java BPBD Pusdalops, Hadi Rahmat, said that his party was coordinating with BPBD in the affected areas, especially Bandung Regency, to assess the impact of the earthquake.

"So the West Java BPBD is still monitoring developments after the earthquake," said Hadi.

Based on the West Java BPBD report, the tremors were felt from Bandung Regency, Bandung City, Cimahi City, West Bandung Regency, to Garut Regency.

The tremors of the earthquake felt only for a few seconds. Even so, the earthquake made residents in the Greater Bandung area panic.

"The earthquake was felt strong for 3-5 seconds. People panicked and had time to leave the house," he said.

West Java BPBD appealed to the public to remain calm and find a safe place.
