The Chairman Of The Corruption Eradication Commission Asks National Films To Be A Campaign Tool To Prevent Corruption

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Firli Bahuri wants to use national films as a tool to campaign for anti-corruption attitudes.

This is because films today are not just entertainment but are often full of education, which can also provide a voice for anti-corruption prevention.

"We view that film is no longer just a spectacle full of entertainment, but also as a means of education as well as a media campaign for the KPK's strategic programs," Firli said in a written statement welcoming National Film Day, Tuesday, March 30.

He is grateful that this view has also been shared by Indonesian filmmakers who have concerns about the aggressive and destructive behavior of corruption in the country. This is proven by the increasing number of self-funded, free, self-funded indie films with the theme of anti-corruption.

"Apart from that, many top national actors and actresses as well as public figures who have thousands to millions of fans have participated in anti-corruption short films," said Firli.

He also mentioned the Anti Corruption Film Festival (ACFFest) to carry out the prevention program. The festival is also always crowded with film people in Indonesia.

"The results of this short film will be fully utilized by the KPK for educational purposes, socialization and anti-corruption campaigns in various media and public facilities indefinitely, as an effort to prevent corruption so that it is no longer entrenched in this republic," he explained.

Seeing this, Firli hopes that national filmmakers will take part in this program. Moreover, the prevention of corruption needs to be assisted by everyone.

"How important it is for all of us to always remind each other of the values of kindness, honesty and simplicity to build integrity and a strong anti-corruption character in all the nation's children in this country," he concluded.
