JAKARTA - More than 2,600 academics, researchers, and university leaders from various regions gathered in the National Sarasehan which is part of the Indonesian Science, Technology, and Industry Convention (KSTI) 2026. Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto said the results of the sarasehan would be formulated as input regarding the role of universities in accelerating the implementation of national priority programs.

The National Seminar held at Hall B of the Jakarta International Convention Center (JICC), Senayan, Jakarta, Friday, June 26 was attended by 219 rectors, 44 college directors, six college presidents, 1,596 lecturers, scientists, and researchers, including 300 researchers from the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN). There were also more than 635 college collaboration partners and the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology.

According to Brian, the sarasehan is part of the Indonesian Science, Technology, and Industry Convention (KSTI) 2026 which has the theme of the Strategy for Economic Independence and Indonesian Welfare.

He said the forum was held to strengthen collaboration between the government, universities, business, industry, and the community so that science can support national development.

Brian also reminded that KSTI was first held in 2025 at the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) Campus on the initiative of the President. At that time, the President directly opened the implementation of the convention.

In his report, Brian said that collaboration between ministries and universities has been carried out in various fields, ranging from agriculture, environment, energy, health, marine, housing, infrastructure to the development of the semiconductor industry.
