DPR RI Able To Complete 30 Percent Of Prolegnas Target, Claims That Are Extraordinary Achievements

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the Legislation Body of the DPR RI/Parliament Achmad Baidowi admitted that his party could only complete 30 percent or 9 of the 33 bills of the 2021 Prolegnas target. According to him, being able to pass 9 bills alone is extraordinary.

"Our target is at least 30 percent or 9 bills. That's enough, we are optimistic that we can solve it. Yesterday (2020) targeted 40 percent and only the work creation Omnibus Law was completed", said Baidowi in a discussion of the Legislation Forum with the theme "Prolegnas 2021", Where's the Priority? at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Tuesday, March 30.

For information, 33 priority bills are included in the Prolegnas 2021. Consisting of 11 bills derived from proposals from the DPR RI, 10 proposals from the government, and proposals from DPD RI 2 bills.

This PPP politician hopes that reducing the number of bills that are included in the National Legislation Program can reduce the burden on the DPR without neglecting the quality of the laws. Because, of the 33 bills that were included in the Prolegnas 2021 priority, 11 of them were proposals from the DPR RI.

"The proposal of 11 bills from the Council's Bodies is quite heavy to be resolved. This is because each commission has other duties, namely supervision, and budgeting, "he said. According to him, making a law is not easy because many variables affect the deliberation of the bill until it is passed in the plenary session.

For this reason, said Baidowi, to reduce the potential for a delay in the deliberation of the Bill, then in the preparation of the National Legislation Program, only drafts that were considered urgent were selected.

"Apart from that, we should not let us enter the bill into the National Legislation Program, but the government is not interested in discussing it so that the presidential order to discuss the bill has not been published", said Awiek.
