Pramono Anung Wants To Make Ojol A Formal Worker, Promises UMR Salary

JAKARTA - Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung's candidate will announce his promise to make online motorcycle taxis (ojol) a formal worker. So far, ojol is only a partner of online transportation applicators.

This idea, admitted Pramono, was also revealed in cabinet work activities in the capital city of Nusantara (IKN) some time ago.

"In ojol, I want to make basic changes. Ojol has been not a formal worker. In the context of my thoughts at IKN, we also discussed that ojol will be formal," Pramono said when met in the CFD Sudirman area, Central Jakarta, Sunday, September 14.

If later ojol become formal workers, then they will get a stable income. Pramono promised that they would have the status of employees who received salaries according to the regional minimum wage (UMR) or provincial minimum wage (UMP).

"So if it is formal, the minimum income is UMR, then it is regulated that it can be more than that. So, the government is formulating it," said Pramono.

In fact, Pramono also opened the opportunity for the government to participate in managing the online transportation management. "So there is certainty that this revenue and services to ojol are carried out by the government," he continued.

On that occasion, Pramono expressed his views on efforts to increase the use of public transportation.

According to him, the main problem for residents to be lazy to use public transportation is the lack of connectivity between Jakarta and the buffer zone. Thus, Pramono assessed that the government needed to facilitate public transportation services that connect the Jabodetabek area.

"People from the south Tangerang, western Bekasi, east Bekasi, if they want to enter Jakarta, they have to bring their own vehicle, some use a motorbike, use a car," Pramono explained.

"Well, if the transportation can be connected to areas like that, I'm sure it will reduce a lot so that people from outside Jakarta, every morning or every afternoon they don't increase the volume of congestion in Jakarta," he added.
