Supporting Palestinian Independence, Fadli Zon Invites The OKI Parliament To Boycott Israel's Affiliated Products

The chairman of the House of Representatives' Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Agency (BKSAP), Fadli Zon, invited members of the Organization for Islamic Cooperation (OKI) to unite and take concrete action in supporting the Palestinian struggle.

In the 52nd meeting of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC) Executive Committee in Rabat, Morocco, 10-11 September 2024, Fadli emphasized the importance of implementing the Boycott, Divestation and Sanctions (BDS) movement against products that support Israeli genocide.

"It's not enough to just condemn, Islamic countries must unite and take concrete steps by promoting the BDS movement against products related to Israeli genocide in Palestine," said Fadli Zon, in a written statement received Friday, September 13.

As Vice President of the World Parliamentary League for Al-Quds and Palestine, Fadli Zon also emphasized the importance of strengthening parliamentary diplomacy among OIC countries to accelerate the ceasefire and stop Israel's brutal action. According to him, this support must be maximized through various platforms, both bilateral and multilateral.

The Secretary-General of PUIC, Mouhammed Khouraichi Niass, appreciated the consistency of the Indonesian House of Representatives in supporting Palestinian independence through parliamentary diplomacy. He stated that Indonesia's active role in international forums strengthens the diplomatic position of Islamic countries on this issue.

In addition, Fadli Zon also announced the readiness of the Indonesian House of Representatives to host the 19th PUIC Conference which will be held in Jakarta in February 2025. This decision was taken after the PUIC member countries gave acclamation support to Indonesia to lead the conference.
