PT PLN (Persero) invites various parties to collaborate in realizing the energy transition in Indonesia. This effort is in line with the Government's vision of encouraging economic growth through energy self-sufficiency.
PLN President Director, Darmawan Prasodjo invites all parties to collaborate in supporting energy transformation in Indonesia.
According to him, self-sufficiency efforts require collaboration in the innovation and sustainable investment sector, especially for clean energy projects.
"We need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions for the future of our next generation. The main challenge is how to provide affordable, safe, and clean energy while accelerating economic growth," Darmawan said on the Mandiri Investment Forum 2025 agenda, quoted on Sunday, February 16.
Darmawan said, Indonesia as an archipelagic country faces challenges in utilizing scattered renewable energy sources.
To overcome the discrepancy between the location of renewable energy sources and the energy demand center, Darmawan said that PLN had mapped the need for the construction of a transmission network of more than 63,000 kilometers by 2040.
"Without this transmission network, there is no way to take advantage of our renewable energy potential. There is no transition without transmission," he stressed.

Darmawan added that the total investment needed for this transformation reached 235 billion US dollars by 2040.
"For that, we need to create a conducive environment for investment, by ensuring these projects are bankable, feasible and have well-managed risks," he explained.
By reducing dependence on import energy, Darmawan said that PLN is committed to developing more reliable and sustainable domestic energy sources.
"We have to take this destiny into our own hands. This is not just a matter of fulfilling international commitments like the Paris Agreement, but because we care about the future of the next generation," he said.
As a step forward, Darmawan said PLN is also exploring cutting-edge technologies such as smart grids and nuclear energy as a solution to meet future clean energy needs.
"Technology will be key, but without the spirit of collaboration, there is no way forward. Together, we can overcome all these challenges and achieve this great mission," he added.
Darmawan emphasized the importance of cross-sectoral and cross-border collaboration in realizing energy transitions because investment collaboration from all sectors is believed to be able to accelerate the achievement of energy self-sufficiency targets.
The challenge of climate change is a global challenge. It cannot be solved with local solutions. Policy collaboration, strategy, technological innovation, and mutual investment are needed. With this, we can turn Indonesia into a leader in the world energy transition," he said.
