8 People Treated In Food Toxic Hospitals After Cultural Events In Bantul, Regency Government Guarantees Medical Costs

BANTUL - The Bantul Regency Government, Special Region of Yogyakarta, guarantees the cost of treatment for patients who experience various complaints of symptoms of poisoning after consuming food at cultural activities held at the Patalan Village Hall, Jetis District.

Deputy Regent of Bantul Joko Purnomo is also concerned about the number of residents who experience stomach pain, diarrhea, dizziness, symptoms of poisoning after attending the Delivery of the Cultural Village Rintisan Decree in Patalan on September 10, 2024.

"I had a talk with the head of the service, that to this day 160 of our residents with symptoms of poisoning, then about eight people have to be hospitalized, and this will all cost the government," he said after visiting inpatients at the Panembahan Senopati Hospital (RSPS) Bantul, Antara, Thursday, September 12.

The financing of patients with symptoms of food poisoning can first use guarantees from the Social Security Administration (BPJS), then if it is not covered, it will be borne by public health insurance (jamkesmas).

"Because we have to finish this immediately, we help the residents and we help, we thank several hospitals, including RSPS, PKU Muhammadiyah Hospital, Hidayatullah Hospital who treated and even some of them had to be opnamed," he said.

The Deputy Regent of Bantul also ensured that the handling of health workers for residents who experienced symptoms of poisoning after consuming food at the cultural event on Tuesday (10/9) had been carried out optimally.

"Alhamdulillah, friends from the Health Office, health centers and village heads are all 'explored', moving quickly to deal with tracing for our residents who participated in the activity yesterday," he said.

Regarding the investigation into the incident, his party handed over to the kelurahan and police institutions, but the local government is currently focusing on saving and handling patients so that they can get better soon.

"We are more about helping residents, so that we can heal them, regarding the investigation, I think the Patalan Village Head has conducted a search, and also the Resort Police are conducting a search, which we must prioritize saving our people who are symptomatic of poisoning," he said.
