JAKARTA - Commission II of the DPR together with the government and the KPU agreed to hold another regional election in an area in 2025 if the empty box wins in the regional elections which will be held on November 27, 2024.
This agreement is the conclusion of a hearing (RDP) between Commission II of the DPR and the Ministry of Home Affairs, KPU, Bawaslu, and DKPP at the DPR building, parliament complex, Senayan, Jakarta as quoted from the DPR's YouTube, Thursday, September 12.
Commission II of the DPR asked the KPU and Bawaslu to follow up on the RDP conclusion in accordance with PKPU Number 8 of 2024 which has been amended in PKPU Number 10 of 2024 concerning the Candidacy for the Election of Governor and Deputy Governor, Regent and Deputy Regent as well as Mayor and Deputy Mayor.
"Further action, the KPU and Bawaslu will be discussed again during the DPR Commission II meeting with the government and election organizers on September 27, 2024," said Doli.
Doli emphasized that the re-calibration was better organized faster than the regional votes led by the acting (pj) for a longer time. This is because it interferes with the development and government of an area.
"We sound almost the same, we prefer the elections that are faster, meaning that it is better for the regional elections or the regions to be led by a definitive regional head whose authority is also wider and certain compared to the pj. If the 5 year pj will certainly interfere with the development in the area," concluded Doli.
