JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta DPRD held a joint leadership meeting (rapimgab) to propose the names of the new candidates for acting (Pj) for the Governor of DKI Jakarta until the Governors of Jakarta as a result of the 2024 Pilkada were inaugurated. The joint leadership meeting is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, September 11, 2024. Each party faction in the DKI DPRD will propose the name of the candidate for Acting Governor. Responding to this, Heru Budi was reluctant to talk about the possibility that he would be re-proposed as Acting Governor of DKI after his two-year term ends on October 17. Heru admitted that he submitted all decisions to the DPRD and the central government who accepted the proposal. "I thank my friends from the council who have processed this. But once again I leave it to him who is honorable," said Heru at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Tuesday, September 10. Heru Budi Hartono's term of office will end on October 17, 2024 after two years in office since October 17, 2022. As stated in the Minister of Home Affairs regulation, the term of office of the Acting Regional Head is one year and can be extended one year later. Meanwhile, the inauguration of the regional head who won the 2024 Pilkada was the fastest in January 2025. Thus, the DPRD will hold a joint leadership meeting to discuss the names that will be proposed to serve as Acting Governor of Jakarta. So far, two party factions in the DPRD have revealed their proposals, namely PDIP and PSI. Member of the PDIP faction of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Jhonny Simanjuntak, proposed Heru to return to his position as Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta until the replacement of the definitive Governors and Deputy Governors of Jakarta. "From my point of view, this is only 3-4 months left, I think from my personal (income) well, he (Here) only continued as Acting Governor,” said Jhonny in his statement, Monday, September 9. Jhonny assessed that Heru's position would be better extended to lead Jakarta over the next few months. Given, it is only a few months left for Jakarta to be led by the Acting Governors before the elected Governors of the 2024 Pilkada results take office. Moreover, if the new Acting Governor is chosen, Jhonny views that the person concerned will take longer to adjust his new position. In the remaining term of office of the Acting Governor, which has only been for a few months, Heru is considered capable of ensuring that all programs run smoothly and effectively.
