Appeal Of The Former Secretary General Of The Ministry Of Agriculture, PT DKI Increases Sentences To 9 Years In Prison

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta High Court (PT) has increased the sentence of the former Secretary General (Secretary General) of the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan), Kasdi Subagyono, in the case of extortion and receiving gratuities. The former subordinate of Syahrul Yasin Limpo or SYL was sentenced to 9 years in prison.

"The defendant Kasdi Subagyono was therefore sentenced to 9 years in prison," said Chief Justice Sugeng Riyono when reading the appeal decision in the courtroom of PT DKI Jakarta, Tuesday, September 10.

In the verdict, the panel of judges also imposed a fine on Kasdi Sugabyono, whose value reached Rp400 million.

Kasdi's probability of not being able to pay it, will be replaced with a corporal sentence of 3 months.

"And a fine of Rp. 400 million with the condition that if the fine is not paid, it will be replaced with imprisonment for 3 months in prison," said Judge Sugeng.

Previously, in the first instance court, Kasdi Subagyoni was sentenced to 4 years in prison by the Panel of Judges at the Corruption Court, Jakarta.

The former SYL subordinate was found guilty of committing a criminal act of corruption together within the Ministry of Agriculture.

"The defendant Kasdi Subagyono was sentenced to 4 years in prison," said Chief Justice Rianto Adam Pontoh during a trial at the Jakarta Corruption Court, Thursday, July 11, 2024.

"Dan, denda sejumlah Rp200 juta dengan ketentuan apabila denda tersebut tidak dibayar maka diganti dengan pidana kurungan selama 2 bulan," sambung hakim.

Kasdi committed a criminal act of corruption in the form of gratification and extortion together with the former Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo alias SYL and the former Director of Tools and Machinery at the Ministry of Agriculture Muhammad Hatta.

At that time, Kasdi Subagyono was found guilty of committing a crime as in the first indictment of the public prosecutor, violating Article 12 letter e Juncto Article 18 of Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Corruption in conjunction with Article 55 Paragraph (1) 1st of the Criminal Code (KUHP) Juncto Article 64 Paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code.
