JAKARTA - Commission II of the DPR talked about the importance of the portion of officials and staff within the Government in relation to bureaucratic reform. This is in order to avoid various conflicts, following the recent hectic issue related to the special staff assistant (stafsus) of the president.

"Our bureaucracy should be lean (rampping). Poor structure, but rich in function, so it is more efficient. Now, the number and distribution of bureaucracy are hoarding," said Member of Commission II DPR RI Mardani Ali Sera, Tuesday, September 10.

Mardani assessed that bureaucratic reform, which has been the government's discourse since the beginning of the leadership period, has not been implemented properly because currently there are still many overlapping tasks and functions so that the government's performance does not run optimally.

"In the era of globalization and digital, bureaucratic reform must be more real. There should be no more employees with minimal performance but still in the organizational structure only because of their closeness to certain parties," he said.

According to Mardani, today's world of bureaucracy has not fully followed the globalization era. Bureaucratic reform is said to be merely a discourse because it cannot optimize the performance of employees.

"The current bureaucracy is still large, some even have a lot of staff but their performance is lacking and that's all. Instead of spending the APBN, it's better for the budget to improve the populist program," explained the legislator from the DKI Jakarta I electoral district.

One example of the ineffectiveness of the portion in the bureaucracy and government staff which is currently in the public spotlight is the position of assistant staff of the president.

This is because it is crowded on social media about the figure of Yasmin Nur who seems to be selling his position as assistant staff of the president by threatening to imprison one of the social media users through special operations. In his post which answered netizen comments, Yasmin also seemed arrogant with his position.

"Cases like this will not happen if bureaucratic reform is carried out, because there will be no time to arrogance and arrogance. Quality officials and employees will definitely be busy working well and providing a positive image for the Government," explained Mardani.

Commission II of the DPR in charge of State Apparatus affairs and Bureaucratic Reform hopes that the efficiency of bureaucrats and staff or employees in the government in the future will be better. That way, said Mardani, there is no longer an assumption of sharing positions within the government.

"Therefore, there needs to be an in-depth evaluation regarding bureaucratic reform to ensure that public officials act with high professionalism and integrity," he said.

Mardani also emphasized the importance of in-depth track record investigation for every prospective official or staff / government employee. In addition to placing a qualified candidate in professional criteria, tracing track records is also to ensure that public employees or officials do not have moral ethics defects.

" Quality public services must be based on strong ethical principles and respect for the community," said Mardani.

Furthermore, Mardani saw that Yasmin Nur's case was only one of the many cases of public officials who carried out arrogant actions.

"This is a matter of integrity from public officials, so that public trust does not decrease because of the arrogance of individuals who work in the government," he explained.

"There must be an understanding that every individual in a position of power must understand moral ethical responsibility in carrying out their duties, including an attitude of respect and respect for the community," concluded Mardani.
