Metro Police Arrest Sindikat Pencurian Modus Ganjar ATM Yang Raup Hundreds Of Million

JAKARTA - The police have uncovered a case of theft of the Mandiri Cash Pavilion (ATM) mode that occurred in a minimarket in the Serpong area, South Tangerang. In this case, the victim lost Rp107 million.

"Subdit Resmob Direktorat Reserse Kriminal Umum Polda Metro Jaya mengungkap sindikat pencurian dengan pemberatan dengan modus menggal ATM," ujar Kabid Humas Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Ade Ary Syam Indradi dikutip Selasa, 10 September.

Two people were named as suspects with the initials ES and MS. They are said to have different roles.

For ES the role of peeking at the password and diverting attention. Meanwhile, MS exchanged ATM cards and blocked the ATM machine.

"The ES suspect was arrested on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 in the Jalan Veteran area, Curug District, Tangerang Regency," he said.

"Ms was arrested on Jalan Permata Kasih, Binong Village, Curug, Tangerang Regency," continued Ade.

The actions of the suspects were carried out by informing the victim that the ATM machine used was not functioning properly. Then, direct to use the machine next to it.

In fact, it's just their mode. This is because the ATM machine has been blocked before.

"When the victim used the ATM next to him, another suspect replaced the one who had previously blocked his ATM, took the victim's ATM and replaced it with a new ATM," he said.

However, the victim can still transact at the ATM machine. So, leaving the scene.

After a while, the victim realized that the ATM card he was holding did not belong to him. Thus, checked to the nearest bank, which turns out to have reduced hundreds of millions of balances in his account.

"The victim immediately went to the office of the ATM publisher bank and received information that his account had decreased by Rp107 million," said Ade.
