East Kalimantan Police Failed Circulation Of 2 Kilograms Of Methamphetamine Worth IDR 3 Billion

The East Kalimantan Regional Police (Polda) thwarted the circulation of two kilograms of methamphetamine, estimated at IDR 3 billion, when four couriers were brought from Pontianak City, West Kalimantan Province to be sold in Balikpapan City.

"We arrested four suspects with the initials SR, AK, AY, and NP with evidence of about two kilograms," said Head of Public Relations of the East Kalimantan Police, Kombes Yulianto, as reported by ANTARA, Monday, September 9.

The disclosure of this case was based on information that a courier brought methamphetamine from Pontianak City to Balikpapan City by air, then followed up by the police with supervision and disguise as buyers.

"From the airport to the four couriers to one of the hotels in the Klandasan Ulu area, Balikpapan District, Balikpapan City and the police who were in disguise made transactions in 414th floor rooms," he explained, then the other police followed and made arrests.

"Sabu wrapped in brown duct tape was confiscated, along with four perpetrators detained at the East Kalimantan Regional Police," he said again.

The perpetrator tried to trick the officers who were at Pontianak City airport, Head of Sub-Directorate 3 of the Narcotics Directorate of the East Kalimantan Police, Kompol Makhfud Hidayat, in response, by inserting methamphetamine in one part of the body.

"Sabu is placed in a basin on one side of the front of the body parallel to the thigh together with the stomach, then covered with five sheets of underwear," he added.

Of the four arrested perpetrators, one perpetrator carried 500 grams of crystal methamphetamine, bringing the total confiscated methamphetamine weighing two kilograms. And the police got the identity of the dealer who was designated as a wanted list (DPO).

"The confiscated methamphetamine weighing two kilograms is estimated to be worth Rp. 3 billion, from the perpetrator who was caught obtaining information on the initials B in Pontianak as a dealer and determined by the DPO," he said.

The delivery of methamphetamine is not the first time, according to him, previously SR and AK had also made deliveries to Jakarta City from Banjarmasin City, South Kalimantan Province.

The four suspects were charged with Article 112 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 114 paragraph (2) subsidiary to Article 132 paragraph (1) of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics, the threat of imprisonment of up to 20 years or life, and a maximum fine of Rp. 10 billion, said Makhfud Hidayat.
