JAKARTA - The PLN Institute of Technology (IT) has made history as the first campus in Jakarta to fully use green energy. Through the utilization of the Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) and the Public Electric Vehicle Charging Station (SPKLU) facilities, IT PLN fully supports the clean and sustainable energy transition in Jakarta.

IT PLN has recorded the use of 915 MWh of energy, which is entirely supplied from the Cirata Hydroelectric Power Plant (PLTA). With this, IT PLN ensures that all electricity consumption on its campus comes from renewable energy, making it a model for environmentally friendly campuses in Jakarta.

General Manager of PLN Jakarta Raya Distribution Main Unit, Lasiran, expressed his appreciation for PLN's IT commitment to the use of environmentally friendly energy.

"The use of REC by IT PLN is a concrete step that is in line with PLN UID Greater Jakarta's commitment to provide environmentally friendly and sustainable electricity services," said Lasiran, Monday, September 9.

In addition to using REC, IT PLN also provides SPKLU Medium Charging facilities with a capacity of 25 kW, which is operated through the PLN Mobile application. This facility makes it easier for electric vehicle users in Jakarta to charge quickly and efficiently. Currently, Jakarta already has 155 SPKLU units spread across various strategic locations.

PLN Manager of the Cengkareng Customer Service Implementation Unit, Adi Purwono, added that PLN UID Jakarta Raya is committed to continuing to develop electric vehicle infrastructure.

"We are committed to providing reliable electricity supply to support the growth of the electric vehicle ecosystem in Jakarta," said Adi.

The Chancellor of IT PLN, Prof. Dr. Ir. Iwa Garniwa MK, MT, IPU, ASEAN.Eng, emphasized the importance of the role of educational institutions in supporting the green energy transition.

"IT PLN is committed to supporting the use of renewable energy as part of sustainable education. We hope this step can be an inspiration for other educational institutions," explained Prof. Iwa.

With the implementation of REC and SPKLU on campus, IT PLN is taking concrete steps to support reducing carbon emissions and contribute to the environment in Jakarta using green energy.
