Reflecting On Aceh, President Jokowi Opens PON 2024 Monday Night

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo accompanied by First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo left for Aceh Province to inaugurate a number of infrastructures and open the XXI National Sports Week (PON) for 2024 Aceh-North Sumatra, Monday 9 September 2024.

The Indonesian Presidential Aircraft-1 carrying President Jokowi and his entourage took off from Aji Pangeran Tumenggung International Airport, Samarinda City, East Kalimantan, at around 08.00 WITA.

Previously, President Jokowi attended the opening of the XXX Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran (MTQ) in Samarinda, Sunday, September 8 evening.

Deputy for Protocol, Press and Media of the Presidential Secretariat Yusuf Permana said upon arrival at Sultan Iskandar Muda International Airport, Aceh Besar District, the President was scheduled to go directly to the Baitussalam Toll Gate to inaugurate a number of Sigli-Banda Aceh toll roads.

"Furthermore, the President and his entourage will go to H. Dimurthala Stadium, Banda Aceh City, to inaugurate the rehabilitation, renovation and construction of the XXI National Sports Week (PON) venue in Aceh Province. After the inauguration, the President and Mrs. Iriana will go to the Regional General Hospital (RSUD) dr. Zainoel Abidin, Banda Aceh City, to review his health facilities and services," said Yusuf.

At night, the President and First Lady are scheduled to attend the inauguration of the 2024 XXI PON Opening which will be held at the Harapan Bangsa Stadium, Banda Aceh City.

After that, the President and his entourage will leave for North Sumatra Province to resume their working visit activities.

Also accompanying President Jokowi and First Lady on a flight to Aceh Province, namely Paspampres Commander Major General TNI Achiruddin and Plh. Military Secretary President Brigadier General Heri Purwanto.
