PALANGKARAYA - A victim drowned in a canoe or jukung sank incident that occurred in the Kapuas Watershed (DAS), Badminton District, Kapuas Regency, Central Kalimantan was found but was already dead, Sunday afternoon.

Korban Riyaman sebelumnya dinyatakan hilang setelah sampanya terendam di sungai Desa Badan, Kecamatan Badminton, Kabupaten Kapuas, pada Minggu (8/9) sekitar pukul 05.30 WIB.

Sampan, who was riding by Riyaman with his wife, Tati Rofiyatun (35), drowned as they crossed the river to Sumber Alaska Village, Badminton District.

When the canoe, which was carried by the husband and wife, sank, his wife Tati Rofiyatun was able to save herself, but her husband, Riyaman, drowned and disappeared at the scene.

A joint team consisting of Kapuas BPBD, village officials, Koramil, Polsek, as well as volunteers and the local community immediately carried out search efforts as soon as the report was received.

The search was carried out since the morning after the report was received by the Kapuas Regency BPBD Disaster Management Operations Control Center (Pusdalops-PB).

"At that time we immediately coordinated with various parties and moved quickly to search around the location where the boat sank," he said.

The search effort lasted several hours until around 11:30 WIB, the victim was found not far from the starting point of the sinking of the boat in a lifeless condition.

The joint team also immediately evacuated the victim's body to the mainland and took him to the funeral home for burial by the family.
