Khofifah Invites The Community To Increase Read Interests From Accurate Sources

JAKARTA - General Chairperson of the Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) Muslimat Center, Khofifah Indar Parawansa, invites the public to increase reading interest, especially from accurate sources, because it can increase knowledge, insight and understanding.

"By reading the more knowledge and knowledge we get. People who are diligent in reading from accurate sources will not easily be provoked by information that is not necessarily true," Khofifah said on the sidelines of commemorating International Literacy Day in Surabaya, quoted from Antara, Sunday, September 8.

Khofifah said that by having good literacy skills, a person will be able to identify, understand, interpret, and communicate something.

Moreover, in a digital era where information is very fast to develop. Often the information circulating cannot be justified. If you are not careful, it will be easily provoked by hoax news.

"For this reason, it is important for us to increase reading interest from accurate sources, so that we will not be easily provoked. Even when reading, the power of imagination will develop more, so that we are able to think critically and rationally," said the Governor of East Java for the 2019-2024 period.

According to him, literacy skills are the basis or key in various aspects of life. Increasing reading interest is one way to increase literacy effectively.

"High reading enthusiasts strengthen reading and writing skills, which are the basis for education and learning. By reading, one will gain wider insight into life," he said.

By increasing reading interest, one not only enriches knowledge for themselves personally, but also contributes to social progress and education in society.
