Encouraging The Creation Of Quality Tourism, Acting Governor Of Bali Proposes A Moratorium On Hotel And Kelab Development For 2 Years

JAKARTA - Acting (Pj) Governor of Bali Sang Made Mahendra Jaya said his proposal to the central government regarding the moratorium on the construction of tourism accommodation in Denpasar, Badung, Gianyar, and Tabanan (Sarbagita) should be carried out for 1-2 years.

"The Bali Provincial Government has made a proposal to the Menkomarves for a moratorium on the construction of hotels, villas, discotheques and beach clubs in the Sarbagita area for 1-2 years, we want to arrange it first," he said in Denpasar, quoted from ANTARA, Saturday, September 7.

The Made in the Hipmi Bali Education and Training Center said that this proposal was submitted in order to encourage the formation of quality Balinese tourism.

Not only about the moratorium on the construction of tourism accommodation, but this proposal is further related to the issue of changing the function of rice fields into commercial land and regulating Online Single Submission (OSS) licensing that does not involve the regions.

"I was shocked as an official, I just saw that on Tiktok it went viral, there was a cliff cut, I didn't know we were suddenly there, there was another big beach club in Tabanan and Denpasar, we didn't know it was also a joke," he said.

"We see the massive conversion of land, then a lot of free alcohol sales at small stalls, which should buy at restaurants or hotels but buy at small traders and get drunk Caucasians then act up," continued Sang Made.

For this reason, the Bali Provincial Government hopes that a limited meeting of the central government which will be commanded by the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Kemenko Marves) will produce rules in the form of presidential instructions (Inpres).

"We want the arrangement to be carried out, hopefully after the ratus there will be an inpres regarding the moratorium on the construction of hotels, villas, discotheques, and beach clubs, as well as land conversion in the Sarbagita area for 1-2 years," said Acting Governor of Bali.

So far, Sang Made has seen the central government respond positively to the proposal for a moratorium on the construction of tourism accommodation, because many problems have occurred and have gone viral on social media.

In addition to development matters, unorganized permits also pass foreign nationals to take local jobs, so that with 2 years the government plans to reorganize Bali tourism.
