Riau Islands Polairud Arrests A Gang Of Smugglers Of Hundreds Of Liters Of Soil Oil

The Directorate of Polairud of the Riau Islands Police (Kepri) thwarted the smuggling of 300 liters of kerosene, or subsidized fuel from Lingga Regency to Batam City, by arresting three perpetrators.

"The perpetrators that we have secured consist of 1 driver and 2 assistant driver who brought subsidized fuel type of kerosene from Lingga Regency to Batam City," said Dirpolairud Polda Kepri Kombes Trisno Eko Santoso as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, September 3. The chronology of the arrest began when the Unit I Team Sisidik Subditgakkum Ditpolairud Polda Kepri received information from the public on Friday (30/8), which said there was 1 pickup carrying subsidized kerosene from Lingga Regency to Batam City via ASDP Telaga Punggur Port.

"Receiving this information, the team conducted an in-depth investigation and followed up on the information obtained," he said. After receiving the report, the team immediately moved to the ASDP Telaga Punggur Port, monitoring the arrival of the roro ship from Lingga Regency.

The team saw that there was a car that was mentioned according to its characteristics getting out of the port and immediately carrying out a follow-up. Arriving at one of the first high schools on Jalan Patimur, Kabiil Village, Nongsa District, the team stopped the vehicle and checked the cargo.

"We found subsidized kerosene of approximately 200 bottles measuring 1.5 liters with a total of approximately 300 liters," he said.

For this incident, the driver containing RDN, and his two assistants HDR and MRFE were taken to the Mako Ditpolairud of the Riau Islands Police for further investigation.

The perpetrators are suspected of violating the provisions of Article 55 of Law Number 22 of 2001 concerning Oil and Gas as amended by Law Number 6 of 2023 concerning Stipulation of Government Regulations in Lieu of Law Number 2 of 2022 concerning Job Creation.

"Anyone who misuses the transportation and/or trading of subsidized fuel oil by the government shall be sentenced to a maximum imprisonment of 6 years and a maximum fine of Rp. 60 billion," Tri said.
