Police Detain Lecturer In Surabaya Perpetrators Of Domestic Violence

SURABAYA - The Surabaya City Police (Polrestabes) detained a lecturer with a doctoral degree in law with the initials MHU in a domestic violence case (KDRT).

"Today we have named him a suspect and immediately detained him after undergoing examination," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Surabaya Police AKBP Aris Purwanto as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, August 3.

The victim and reporter of this case has the initials S, who is none other than the wife of the suspect MHU.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit Aris Purwanto revealed that the suspect MHU beat his wife, including using a pipe at the Pakuwon City area of Surabaya.

The incident was witnessed by his two children, apart from being strengthened by a number of pieces of evidence, one of which was in the form of a CCTV camera footage installed in one of his home rooms.

Aris emphasized that the evidence in the form of a pipe used by the MHU suspect in carrying out domestic violence against his wife had not been found.

"Regarding the pipe, one of the evidences that has not been found, we immediately made efforts to force the arrest of the MHU suspect. Currently, we are conducting an examination of the Air Force and today we are also detaining him," he said.

The police charged the suspect MHU with Article 44 Paragraph 1 and Article 45 Paragraph 1 of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia (UU RI) Number 23 of 2004 concerning the Elimination of Domestic Violence in conjunction with Article 64 of the Criminal Code (KUHP).

"The threat is five years in prison," said Aris Purwanto.
