Not a State Organiser, Golkar believes Kaesang's ‘private jet’ does not fall under the category of gratification

JAKARTA - Golkar Party Deputy Chairperson Ace Hasan Syadzily responded to the question of PSI Ketum Kaesang Pangarep who will be asked for clarification by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) regarding alleged gratuities after using private jet facilities when going to the United States (US) some time ago.

According to Ace, Kaesang is not a state organiser so he is not included in the category of gratification recipients.

‘Mas Kaesang himself is not a state official, so as someone who is not a state official, of course he is not included in the category that is bound by regulations, or about the use of something that can be binding on state officials,’ said Ace at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday, 2 September.

Nevertheless, the DPR member from the West Java electoral district returned the applicable regulatory mechanism to the KPK. He also invited if the KPK wanted to summon Kaesang.

‘Yes, we return to the applicable rules,’ said Ace.

Previously, Kaesang Pangarep, who is the youngest son of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and his wife, Erina Gudono, was in the spotlight because he took a private jet to the United States. In addition, Jokowi's son-in-law also uploaded a luxurious lifestyle while in the US.

Erina at that time not only uploaded the moment of boarding the plane to the United States. He also uploaded photos of eating bread worth IDR 400,000 and a baby stroller allegedly worth tens of millions of rupiah.

The two of them were also highlighted after allegedly bringing luxury groceries from the United States without customs inspection. In the video circulating, the two of them got off the Gulfstream N568SE jet and headed straight to a Toyota Alphard car parked on the aircraft apron.

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) asked President Joko Widodo's (Jokowi) son Kaesang Pangarep to prove that he paid for the private jet used to travel to the United States. He can bring proof of payment when clarified by the KPK's Directorate of Gratification.

‘We really hope that when clarifying or anything is accompanied by evidence, dong. For example, ‘I paid myself, you know, here is the proof of transfer’,’ KPK Deputy Chairman Alexander Marwata told reporters at the KPK's Red and White building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Friday, 30 August.

‘So what? clear dong,’ he continued.

Alexander emphasised that this evidence was important so that Kaesang could prove that the use of the plane was not facilitated by other parties. This method is also expected to stop polemics in the community.

‘So that people who are questioning, making social media very crowded today become enlightened. Oh, yes, if it's paid for, there is payment and so on, if it's part of a business facility, that's it, like that,’ he explained.
