JAKARTA - European Commissioner for Humanitarian Assistance and Crisis Management, Janez Lenarcic, condemned the massive military offensive of Israeli troops in the occupied West Bank.

"The situation in the occupied West Bank is getting worse with the use of Israeli military forces carelessly and the violence carried out by settlers against civilians," Lenarcic said via social media X as reported by ANTARA from Anadolu, Thursday, August 29.

Lenarcic also highlighted massive destruction of homes and infrastructure that violates international law and human rights.

On Wednesday (28/8), Israeli soldiers launched a massive military operation in the northern part of the West Bank which was the largest attack in two decades and killed 17 Palestinians, according to the official Palestinian Wafa news agency.

Israel's foreign head, Israel Katz, called for a temporary evacuation of Palestinian civilians and any steps needed to carry out the operation.

Israel continues its brutal attack on the Gaza Strip following the Hamas attack on October 7, despite UN Security Council resolutions calling for an immediate ceasefire.

The intense attack left more than 40,500 Palestinians dead, mostly women and children, and more than 93,700 people injured, according to local health authorities.

The ongoing blockade in Gaza has caused food shortages, clean water and medicines, causing most of the region to collapse.

Israel faces allegations of genocide at the International Court ordering the halt to military operations in the southern city of Rafah, where more than one million Palestinians seek refuge before the territory is invaded on May 6.
