Anies Cancels Being Promoted By PDIP In Jakarta Gubernatorial Election, Spokesperson: We Must Respect

JAKARTA - Anies Baswedan, through his spokesman, Sahrin Hamid admitted that he respected the PDI-P's decision (PDIP) which failed to carry him in the Jakarta Pilkada.

PDIP finally brought its cadre, Pramono Anung-Rano Karno, who registered with the DKI Jakarta KPU to mark it.

"We express our appreciation, appreciation and respect for what the party has decided. It is part of party sovereignty. We must respect that," said Sahrin when met on Jalan Brawijaya X, South Jakarta, Thursday, August 29.

According to Sahrin, every political party including PDIP has its own strategy in responding to political dynamics during the 2024 Pilkada nomination. Anies, he continued, appreciated that.

"Of course, the party has its own dynamics. The party has a mechanism platform to decide on it. Of course, awards and respect for all parties that have decided regarding the regional elections in Jakarta," said Sahrin.

Anies' fate to win a ticket in the Jakarta Pilkada before the registration period was suspended until finally all political parties holding the seats of the DKI Jakarta DPRD had brought their candidate pairs.

Political parties that have been close to the Advanced Indonesia Coalition (KIM) Plus, from the start, have never looked at Anies. Meanwhile, PDIP, which was previously Anies' only hope for, canceled its nomination for the former governor of DKI.

Now, the candidate pair for Governor-Deputy Governor of Jakarta has registered with the DKI Jakarta KPU Office until the last day of registration which is closed Thursday, August 29 at 23.59 local time.

Earlier on Wednesday, August 28, two Jakarta cagub-cawagub pairs had registered with the KPU, namely Pramono Anung-Rano Karno who was promoted by PDIP and Ridwan Kamil-Suswono which were promoted by the Gerindra Party, PKS, Golkar, NasDem, PKB, PSI, Democrats, PAN, Perindo, PPP, Garuda, Gelora, and PBB.

Following that, the Jakarta cagub-cawagub pair for the independent route, Dharma Pongrekun-Kun Wardana registered on the evening of August 29.

The KPU has scheduled Pramono-Rano to undergo a medical examination at the Tarakan Regional General Hospital (RSUD), Central Jakarta, on August 30 starting at 07.00 WIB.

Meanwhile, the Ridwan Kamil-Suswono couple are scheduled to undergo a health check on August 31, then Dharma-Kun on September 1 at the same time.
