14 Victims Of Makassar Explosion, From Residents To Church Security Guards

JAKARTA - The National Police Headquarters (Mabes) said that so far 14 people have been recorded as injured as a result of the suicide bombing in front of the Makassar City Cathedral Church. They are treated intensively in several hospitals.

"So there are 14 victims. This means that those who are currently under treatment are being handled by doctors and hopefully they will soon be able to return (recover)," said Head of Public Relations Division of the National Police, Inspector General Argo Yuwono to reporters, Sunday, March 28.

Of the dozens of victims, three of them were at the Stella Maris Hospital in Makassar. They suffered wounds on the neck, chest, face, hands, and feet.

Then, seven other victims were treated at the Academic Hospital. They suffered minor injuries from being hit by the splinters of the explosion.

While the rest were treated at Pelamonia Hospital. They suffered wounds on the thighs, calves, and head. In fact, also affected the face.

"There were victims from the security of the church and congregation," said Argo.

Previously it was reported that an explosion suspected of a suicide bombing occurred in the vicinity of the Cathedral Church, Kota Makassar, Sunday, March 28. As a result of this explosion, several people became victims.

The explosion is said to have come from one of the motorcyclists. He had previously tried to enter the church.
