Forward To The East Java Gubernatorial Election, Risma Withdraws From The Minister Of Social Affairs

The candidate for Governor of East Java, promoted by PDIP Tri Rismaharini, confirmed that he would resign from the position of Minister of Social Affairs (Mensos) to contest the 2024 East Java Regional Head Election (Pilkada).

"Come on, I will resign," he said when asked about his position as Social Minister, reported by ANTARA, Thursday, August 29.

Risma will submit her resignation after completing the registration of the Candidates for Governor-Deputy Governor of East Java. Risma and Zahrul Azhar Asumta (Gus Hans) will register with the East Java KPU at around 18.00 WIB on the last day of registration.

Regarding his resignation plan, Risma will meet President Joko Widodo on Friday (30/8) and directly ask to resign because she wants to focus on nominating the East Java Pilkada.

"Tomorrow, God willing, if possible, ask the President for time to resign. But the rules are not regulated. But I will resign, and that is his authority," said Risma, who is also the former Mayor of Surabaya for two periods.

Risma will run as a candidate for Governor of East Java East Java accompanied by Zahrul Azhar Asumta (Gus Hans). When registering later, Risma-Gus Hans will be escorted by three supporting political parties.

The three supporting political parties are the PDI-P, Hanura Party and the Ummat Party. The plan is that the registration will also be enlivened by a convoy of cultural carnivals when going to the East Java KPU Office.

In the East Java Pilkada, currently only Khofifah Indar Parawansa and Emil Elestianto Dardak have registered with the East Java KPU.

Meanwhile, the candidate pair from the National Awakening Party (PKB) Luluk Nur Hamidah-Lukmanul Hakim is also scheduled to register on the last day of registration or on Thursday (29/8). In the last day of registration, the KPU will open service until 23.59 WIB.
