Surya Paloh To Prabowo: No Need To Think Too Much About How Much NasDem Must Get A Seat

Chairman of the NasDem Party, Surya Paloh, emphasized that his party is not very targeting the number of ministerial seats in the cabinet of the elected President-Vice President Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka after officially closing in the government.

This was revealed by Surya in the closing of the III Congress of the NasDem Party which was attended by Prabowo. Surya asked Prabowo not to worry so much about having to determine how many ministerial seats for NasDem.

"Mr. President Prabowo, don't think too much about how many seats he has to get. That's not Mr. Prabowo. But never doubt the sincerity of the heart, sincerity," said Surya at the Jakarta Convention Center, Tuesday, August 27.

To Prabowo, Surya claimed that NasDem would work together with the government as it is. If there is a government policy or attitude that is not in accordance with NasDem, Surya guarantees that he will be honest.

"Sikap dengan segala terbuka, berbicara seperti apa adanya, sepakat atau kurang sepatu, itu pasti kami akan lakukan di depan Bapak, bukan hanya di belakang Bapak," ujar Surya.

The Nasdem Party held a Congress III which was held for 3 days, from Sunday to Tuesday, August 25-27, 2024. The congress was attended by thousands of NasDem Party administrators and cadres from the central to the city district, as well as invitees.

The opening night of the El Congress of the NasDem Party on Sunday, August 25, carried the theme "Sinergi Builds the Nation". The opening of the III NasDem Congress was also attended by President Joko Widodo.

On the third day of the Congress, Surya Paloh was re-elected as Chairman of the NasDem Party for the period 2024-2029. Thus, Surya served as Chairman of NasDem for the third period for the next five years.

Surya first served as Chairman of NasDem at the first Congress in 2013, then he resumed his position as Chairman of the second Congress in 2019. Surya's announcement was again appointed as chairman of the NasDem Party was determined in the third plenary meeting of the III NasDem Congress.

Then, the High Council also instructed Surya to arrange the management of the Central Leadership Council of the NasDem Party for the period 2024-2029.
