Anies Cancels PDIP, Megawati Promotes Pramono Anum-Rano Karno In Jakarta Pilkada

JAKARTA - The PDI-P (PDIP) DPP will carry Pramono Anung-Rano Karno in the 2024 DKI Jakarta Pilkada.

This was conveyed by PDIP General Treasurer Olly Dondokambey when confirmed by ANTARA reporters from Jakarta, Tuesday, August 27.

"Yes (will carry Pramono-Rano Karno in the Jakarta Pilkada)," said Olly.

Previously, the name Anies Baswedan was widely championed by PDIP in the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada after the decision of the Constitutional Court regarding the latest nomination threshold rules.

However, the name of the Governor of DKI Jakarta for the 2017-2022 period was not stated at the Announcement of the Regional Head Candidate (Deputy Head) for the Third Wave at the PDI-P DPP Office (PDIP), Menteng, Jakarta, last Monday.

Based on observations at the PDIP DPP Office until 14:46 WIB, Anies was also not seen attending the event.

In fact, Anies was seen wearing red woven clothes at his residence in Lebak Bulus, Cilandak, South Jakarta.

He has also said goodbye and asked his mother Aliyah Rasyid Baswedan and his wife Ferry Farhati in the family room.

"Anies left first, please pray for his blessing, hopefully it will be launched today," said Anies in his statement in Jakarta, Monday.

Anies is scheduled to visit the PDI-P DPP Office on Monday afternoon.

Anies Baswedan's spokesman, Angga Putra Fidrian, revealed that the former governor of DKI Jakarta was scheduled to the PDI-P DPP Office located on Jalan Diponegoro Number 58, Jakarta, on Monday afternoon.

Even so, Angga was reluctant to explain in more detail about the purpose of Anies Baswedan's visit to the party headquarters bearing the white-nosed bull.

"Yes to the DPP, but the details can be asked to PDIP," said Angga when confirmed by ANTARA in Jakarta, Monday morning.

On the other hand, photos were scattered showing Anies Baswedan and Rano Karno sitting together in a room.

Anies was seen wearing a red weaving shirt, while Rano Karno was seen wearing a red PDIP uniform with the bull symbol on the left. The two of them compactly threw a smile at the camera.

Chairman of the DPP for the Ideology and PDI-P Cadreization (PDIP) Djarot Saiful Hidayat said the meeting between Anies Baswedan and Rano Karno at Building B, PDIP DPP Office, Jakarta, was for discussion.

"It must be remembered that Bung Rano is a former governor of Banten. Mr. Anies is a former governor of DKI Jakarta. Can the Governor of Banten and the Governor of DKI not discuss? Yes, right? " said Djarot when met at the PDIP DPP Office, Jakarta, Monday.

He said the meeting was also a gathering to discuss their views on Jakarta's future.

Regarding whether Anies also met with PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri during her visit to the PDIP DPP, Djarot admitted that he did not know about it.

"I haven't had the chance to meet Mr. Anies. So, I haven't asked Mr. Anies directly. I'm afraid of being wrong," he said.

He was also reluctant to respond regarding the possibility that Anies-Rano's meeting confirmed that the two would move forward together to become the next prospective Jakarta leader.

"It (the appointment of candidates) is the prerogative of the general chairman. So, be patient for a little more than one to two days," he said.
