Student Demonstrations At Semarang City Hall Are Ricuh, Eye Gas Shot Police

JAKARTA - The police forcibly dispersed the student demonstration which was held in front of the Semarang City DPRD office, Central Java.

The student action was forcibly dispersed after previously heating up several times between the police camp and students.

Student demonstrations were previously planned to be held in front of the Central Java DPRD office on Jalan Pahlawan, Semarang City.

However, the masses of students who convoy on motorbikes only passed through the front of the Central Java DPRD office and moved their actions to the Semarang City DPRD office located on Jalan Pemuda.

In the action, the students damaged two gated office complexes in the same location as the Semarang Mayor's office.

The action had heated up several times with pushing each other between the police and students.

In the afternoon, dozens of vocational students who joined added to the heat of the actions of students who wanted to occupy the Semarang City DPRD office.

Police took firm action by disbanding the action on Monday evening.

Police pushed the mass of students to the North on Jalan Pemuda using water cannon cars and tear gas shots.

The Head of Public Relations of the Central Java Police, Kombes Artanto, said that around 1,500 police personnel were deployed to secure today's action.

"This security is to ensure that the delivery of aspirations is carried out in a dignified manner," he said.

In addition, according to the police, they want to ensure that the community does not experience the negative impact of conveying these aspirations.
