Pakistani Separatist Militants Attack Police Stations To Vehicles, 39 People Killed

JAKARTA - A total of 39 people died as a result of the Pakistani separatist militant attack. Militants reportedly attacked police stations, railway lines, and vehicles on highways in the province of Blochistan, Pakistan.

The militant group has been carrying out ethnic insurgencies for decades demanding secession from a southwest, resource-rich province.

Reported by Reuters on Monday, August 26, the biggest attack targeted vehicles from buses to cargo trucks on main roads, killing 23 people. Ten vehicles were burned.

The railway line between Pakistan and Iran and the railroad bridge connecting Quetta, the provincial capital, to the rest of the country was also exposed to explosives during the attack, rail official Muhammad Kasif said.

Police said they found six unidentified bodies near the attack on the railroad bridge.

The Bloch Liberation Army (BLA) militant group claimed responsibility in an emailed statement to journalists claiming more attacks, including one attack on a major paramilitary base, although Pakistani authorities have not confirmed this.
