Checking YLBHI Uploads, The Indonesian Ombudsman Did Not Find Extortion Of Ransom For Demonstrators Detained At The West Jakarta Police

JAKARTA - Head of Prevention of Maladministration of the Indonesian Ombudsman, Febrityas, conducted a direct check at the West Jakarta Metro Police regarding the upload of the Instagram account @YLBHI which stated that one mass of action was detained at the West Jakarta Metro Police and asked for a ransom on Friday, August 23.

After conducting direct checks, they ensured that there were no fees for the repatriation of the mass action that was secured at the West Jakarta Metro Police.

"Earlier, none of them were asked (to collect)," Febrityas told reporters, Friday, August 23.

Febri said he had interviewed several parents who picked up their children this afternoon. They did not spend a penny to redeem their child.

"Yes, just make a statement without any fees," he said.

Febri said he had met with West Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes M Syahduddi and West Jakarta Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head AKBP Andri Kurniawan.

Febri said the condition of the mass action that was secured at the West Jakarta Police was in good condition. The number of mass actions previously secured was 105 people, now only 28 people remain.

In addition, he continued, the psychological condition of the mass demonstration was declared fine. None of them admitted to being mistreated when they were arrested.

"We checked directly, indeed their psychological condition is fine, they can still laugh and be happy to meet their parents," he explained.

Previously, the Indonesian LBH Foundation through the Instagram account @YLBHI uploaded a statement that looked up to the public. In his upload, YLBHI mentioned that one mass action was detained at the West Jakarta Metro Police who was asked for a ransom.

"The latest update. One mass of action detained at the West Jakarta Police was asked for a ransom of 3 million rupiah by the security forces. Crazy!," he wrote in the @YLBHI account quoted by VOI, Friday, August 23.
