Surrender Not Chosen To Be The Chairman Of PKB Again, Cak Imin: His Job Is Heavy

JAKARTA - Chairman of the National Awakening Party (PKB) Muhaimin Iskandar (Cak Imin) admitted that he was resigned if he was not elected to return to lead the party in the next management period. This was revealed by Cak Imin before leaving for Bali to hold the 6th PKB Congress. In holding the congress on August 24-25 tomorrow, PKB will determine who will be the general chairman for the 2024-2025 period based on the aspirations of branch level administrators. "Basically I give up whatever is the choice of the PKB branch, I will join. But I also have no ambition because being a ketum is a tough task that is not a matter of wanting, but a matter of responsibility," said Cak Imin when met at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Friday, August 23. Tonight, the PKB management will hold a deliberation with the kiai or ulama who are invited to prepare for the discussion at the congress. Then, in a series of other congress activities, administrators at the regional level will evaluate Cak Imin's leadership over the past five years. This evaluation was used as the basis for determining whether Cak Imin was worthy to return to lead the party or be replaced. "It depends on whether my accountability for the past 5 years is accepted or not. The point of evaluation is how after that there is a forum called a general view of evaluation, then there will be branches throughout Indonesia taking conclusions, whether to continue or not," he explained. The congress is the PKB's highest decision-making forum attended by all representatives or envoys from the regional leadership council (DPW) and branch leadership councils (DPC) throughout Indonesia, including the PKB autonomous body. This year, the congress was attended by thousands of PKB cadres. During the congress, the Chairman of the PKB DPP Faisol Riza as the Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Congress said that PKB would follow up on the wishes of all regional party officials to branches. PKB Chairman Muhaimin Iskandar was confirmed to be returning to lead the party in the next period. "Regarding the request to Mr. Muhaimin as the general chairman of the PKB to lead again, it has been conveyed by all branches and DPW asking for his willingness to re-lead PKB in the upcoming government and in the upcoming DPP management," said Faisol at the PKB DPP office, Central Jakarta, Thursday, August 8. Faisol explained that the agenda of the congress began with an accountability report from the DPP Management for the 2019-2024 period. Furthermore, the PKB ranks held a number of trials related to, for example, programs or outlines of parties in the management for the next five years. The main thing is whether PKB will join the Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka government or be on the opposition line.

"In general, the voices of all branches and DPWs have so far wanted almost everyone to say that PKB must join the upcoming government," explained Faisol.
