Deliberately Absent At The Plenary Meeting, PKB Legislator: I Reject The Quick Ratification Of The Pilkada Bill

JAKARTA - Member of Commission VIII DPR from the PKB faction, Luqman Hakim, admitted that he deliberately did not attend a plenary meeting related to making decisions on the Revision of the Pilkada Law to be ratified as Law this morning.

Luqman emphasized that he was standing in a historical position with students and the people against the engineering of the constitutional robbery authorities.

"As a member of the DPR RI from the PKB faction, I decided not to attend the DPR RI Plenary Meeting which was held today with a decision-making agenda to ratify the Pilkada Bill," Luqman told reporters, Thursday, August 22.

The PKB legislator for the Central Java electoral district rejected the discussion on the revision of the Pilkada Law in a flash. Where only one hour of discussion is included in the Legislative Meeting of the DPR and the government, the draft revision of the Law can be brought to the plenary session to be ratified.

According to Luqman, the agreement of the DPR Baleg which annulled the decision of the Constitutional Court has brought democracy.

"The absence of me at the plenary meeting was not a technical problem. But a manifestation of my attitude which rejected the discussion and ratification of the revision of the Pilkada Law by lightning, without space for public participation, counter-democracy and against the constitution by ignoring the substance of the Constitutional Court's decision," said the former chairman of PP GP Ansor.

"I chose to be in a historical position with fellow students, fellow journalists, academics, democracy activist individuals and organizations and all Indonesian people who today acted and moved against the authorities' engineering to thwart the constitution in order to perpetuate power," he concluded.
