Demo Rejects Pilkada Bill Today, 2,975 Joint Personnel Alerted At The DPR Building

Polda Metro Jaya deployed 2,975 joint personnel in the demonstration security scheme in front of the DPR/MPR Building, today, Thursday, August 22.

The demonstration, which was initiated by the Labor Party and the Confederation of Indonesian Trade Unions (KSPI), relates to the DPR's decision to annull the decision of the Constitutional Court (MK) on the Regional Head Election (Pilkada).

"For the number of troops in anticipation of securing today's demonstrations in the jurisdiction of the Polda Metro Jaya, there are 2,975 personnel," said Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Ade Ary Syam Indradi to VOI, Thursday, August 22.

Thousands of personnel will be alerted at several points, from the Arjuna Wijaya Horse Statue to the vicinity of the DPR/MPR Building.

In addition, Ade also appealed to the mass of action to continue to obey the applicable rules. Thus, the activities of expressing opinions in public run smoothly and safely.

"Please convey your aspirations in a cool and peaceful manner, there are no hate speech and provocative words that can disrupt the stability of the kamtibmas," he said.

"Do peaceful demonstrations, do not impose will, do not be anarchic and do not damage public facilities," continued Ade.

In the security scheme, traffic flow engineering will also be implemented. However, it is situational.

Situational implementation means that traffic flow engineering will be carried out if the situation and conditions on the ground are deemed necessary.

Possibly, the scheme that will be implemented is such as diverting traffic flow. The goal is so that people are not disturbed by the activities of expressing opinions in public.

"People who use roads to avoid the area and look for other alternative routes to avoid traffic congestion," said Ade.

The demonstration is planned to begin at 09.00 WIB. Around 2,000 workers will be involved in the action.

The demands behind the demonstration were urging the Indonesian House of Representatives not to resist and change the Constitutional Court Decree No. 60/PUU-XXII/2024.
