KPK Opportunity To Check Erick Thohir-Budi Karya After Working On Hasto In The DJKA Case

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) opens the opportunity to summon the Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi and Minister of SOEs Erick Thohir.

This was conveyed by KPK Spokesperson Tessa in response to the statement of PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto who had been examined as a witness in the alleged bribery case at the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) on Tuesday, August 20. The institution will certainly pay close attention to the findings that emerged.

"If possible, Mr. HK (Hasto Kristiyanto) would say that, it could be, but later we will wait for more," Tessa told reporters, Wednesday, August 21.

He ensured that all parties whose statements were needed would definitely be summoned. "Yes, all the information needed by investigators, of course, in order to fulfill the element of the case, we will definitely ask not only the person concerned, but other witnesses, and whoever if the testimony is needed, of course we will ask for information," said the spokesman with the background of the investigator.

However, Tessa has not specified the exact time of the summons. He said investigators must have had plans to investigate the alleged DJKA bribery.

"Who will be questioned, when to be summoned depends on the investigation plan made by the task force," he said.

Hasto, after being questioned by KPK investigators, mentioned the names of Erick Thohir and Budi Karya. He said he was asked for his capacity as Secretary of the Jokowi-Ma'ruf Amin National Campaign Team (TKN) in the 2019 Presidential Election.

Hasto then explained that Erick Thohir at that time served as chairman and ordered mutual cooperation to raise funds for the campaign. This order was then followed up with a meeting between the Deputy Secretary General of PDIP Yoseph Aryo Adhi Dharmo and Budi Karya.

"At that time, based on the policy of the head of the winning team, Mr. Erick Thohir, it was said that there were parties from fellow ranks who then worked together, and then met Mr. Adhi Dharma with Mr. Budi Karya Sumadi," said Hasto at the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Tuesday, August 20.
