PDIP Concerning Opportunities To Promote Anies Baswedan In The Jakarta Gubernatorial Election: See The People's Aspirations

Secretary General of the PDI-P (PDIP) Hasto Kristiyanto said the opportunity to carry Anies Baswedan in the Jakarta gubernatorial election would be determined by the aspirations of the people.

This was conveyed after the Constitutional Court (MK) granted a request for part of the case lawsuit Number 60/PUU-XXII/2024.

"Yes, we will see the aspirations of the people. (Because of the Constitutional Court's decision, ed) this is a decision that gives fresh air," Hasto told reporters at the KPK's Red and White building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Tuesday, August 20.

"So we immediately had a dialogue to see how the people hope," he continued.

Hasto also conveyed the same thing in response to Anies Baswedan's opportunity to be paired with the former Mayor of Semarang, Hendrar Prihadi, who is a PDIP cadre. He said, every opportunity must exist but the funeral needs to be done first.

"Yes, it's called an opportunity for every leader who gets appreciation from the people to have room to nominate. And that's what the PDI-P will observe," said the former legislator.

Previously, PDIP DPP chairman Deddy Yevri Sitorus said his party welcomed the Constitutional Court's decision which changed the threshold for regional head candidacy in the regional elections. Moreover, so far there has been a scenario of cornering them so that they are only spectators.

"This is very encouraging news because so far there have been efforts by the authorities and footballers who are trying to corner the PDI-P so they cannot nominate in many regions," said Deddy Sitorus in a written statement, Tuesday, August 20.

Deddy said the decision knocked out by the Constitutional Court made PDIP ready to nominate its best figure. "With this, we ensure that we can progress in certain areas that have been controlled by certain oligarchs such as DKI, West Java, East Java, Jember, Banten, Papua and so on," he said.
