Foreign Minister Retno: Indonesia Works Hard To Be Part Of The Solutions Of Various Regional And International Problems

JAKARTA - Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi emphasized that Indonesia will always be committed and contribute to maintaining peace and prosperity in the world.

This was said by Foreign Minister Retno in front of dozens of ambassadors and representatives from friendly countries when inaugurating the restoration of the Pancasila Building, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia on Monday.

He said, over the past decade, Indonesia has worked very hard to be part of solutions to various regional and international problems.

"From the Palestinian issue to the situation in Afghanistan, from the conflict in Myanmar to the war in Ukraine, from natural disasters to countering terrorism and transnational organized crimes," the Foreign Minister said in a speech, Monday, August 19.

"We are trying to become a connecting bridge and become a trusted partner," he continued.

Exemplified by him, Indonesia is very consistent in upholding justice and humanity for Palestine.

"We have walked side by side. We will never stop until Palestine is independent and stands tall as a sovereign country. I invite all parties to choose to be on the right side of history," said Foreign Minister Retno.

"And in the future, our commitment will remain the same. Indonesia will always contribute to maintaining world peace and prosperity as mandated by the Indonesian Constitution," he said.

Regarding the restoration of the Pancasila Building, the historic building where Pancasila was first introduced as the Indonesian ideology, Foreign Minister Retno said the process was not, because the building had historical value and was a cultural heritage.

"In this building, hundreds of meetings with foreign ministers and high-ranking officials have taken place. Many people have been walking in their alleys. Various talks have been exchanged. So many agreements have been signed. Unexpected efforts to maintain peace have also been discussed on the table," he said.

"This building has witnessed the silent journey of history and diplomacy of our nation," said the Foreign Minister.

It took about 10 months, the process involved a team of cultural heritage building experts and conservation experts.

"The Pancasila building is more than just a brick, more than just a building. This building will continue to be an important milestone for Indonesia's diplomatic journey and for many decisions-making processes in Indonesia's foreign policy," said Foreign Minister Retno.
