Foreign Minister Retno Receives The Star Of Merit Of The Order Of The State Of Palestine, Foreign Minister Maliki: Commitment For Years

JAKARTA - Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi received a Medal of Honor 'The Star of Merit of the Order of the State of Palestine' service certificate from the Palestinian Government.

The award from President Mahmoud Abbas was handed over directly by Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad Al-Maliki at the Pancasila Building, the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Jakarta.

"On behalf of the President of Palestine, I handed over a merit medal for His Majesty the Minister of Foreign Affairs because of his years of commitment as a colleague in cooperation in recent years," said Foreign Minister Al-Maliki, Monday, August 19.

It is known, the Medal of Honor The Star of Merit of the Order of the State of Palestine is a Palestinian award given by the President of Palestine to officials at the ministerial level, ambassadors, envoys, and members of parliament of friendly countries who are considered meritorious to Palestine.

The handover of this service certificate was carried out on the sidelines of the inauguration of the restoration of the Pancasila Building which was attended by around 49 ambassadors of friendly countries, 10 representatives of foreign countries non ambassadors, to former foreign ministers Alwi Shihab, Hassan Wirajuda and Marty Natalegawa.

In addition to Foreign Minister Retno, Palestine also gave the highest award, the Grand Collar Order of the State of Palestine for President Joko Widodo at the Merdeka Palace.

This award was given as a form of recognition for Indonesia's consistent support for the Palestinian people's struggle for independence.

"The Special Order expresses a very high appreciation from President Mahmoud Abbas to the President of the Republic of Indonesia for his consistent position in supporting the struggle of the Palestinian people," said Foreign Minister Retno.

In addition to giving awards, the Special Envoy also congratulated President Abbas to President Jokowi and all Indonesian people on the commemoration of the 79th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia.
