Dengue-Malaria Fever Increases, The Ministry Of Health Of India Asks Doctors Who Are Strike To Work To Continue Their Duties

JAKARTA - India's Ministry of Health has asked doctors across the country, who have been on strike in protest over the rape and murder of a medical worker, to continue their duties. The Ministry of Health also guarantees that all necessary steps to ensure the safety of health professionals are being taken. "The ministry asked doctors who broke down to continue their duties for the wider public interest and remember the increasing cases of Dengue and Malaria Fever," the document read. Representatives from several Indian medical associations have met with health ministry officials after the deadly incident, according to the document. "Officers listened to the demands of representatives and assured them of all possible efforts to ensure the safety of health professionals," the document reads. A total of 26 states in India have passed legislation aimed at protecting medical personnel, according to Indian ministry documents. On August 9, the body of a 32-year-old woman, a graduate training doctor, was found in the seminar room of RG Kar Hospital in the city of Kalkuta, India.

Police have arrested a suspect in the case, Sanjoy Roy, a civilian volunteer who frequently visits RG Kar Medical College and the hospital. Indian doctors began an indefinite strike on Monday.
