Urged To Investigate Bobby Nasution-Kahiyang's 'Medan Block', KPK Chairman Nawawi: We Have Standard Procedures

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said there are standard procedures that must be met before developing allegations of corruption.

This was conveyed by the Chairman of the KPK, Nawawi Pomolango, in response to the insistence to investigate the 'Blok Medan' which appeared at the trial of the former Governor of North Maluku, Abdul Gani Kasuba and dragged the name of President Joko Widodo's son-in-law (Jokowi) as well as the Mayor of Medan Bobby Nasution. The anti-corruption commission, he said, could not carry out developments carelessly without hearing reports from the prosecutor.

"We have standard operating procedures (SOP) regarding this matter. The things that appear in the trial, usually we still provide opportunities for the public prosecutors who handle the case to make a kind of report on the progress of the trial," Nawawi told reporters at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Saturday, August 17.

Reports on the progress of this trial can then be submitted to the leadership in an exposure forum or case title. From that forum, we then decide whether this is sufficient for us to call or what kind of reason. Usually so," said Nawawi.

As previously reported, the former KPK leadership and employees asked Nawawi Pomolango as the Chair while the KPK dared to investigate the 'Medan Block'. This was conveyed in an audience held at the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta on Wednesday, August 14.

This term was revealed after the Head of the North Maluku ESDM Service, Suryanto Andili, testified at the trial of former North Maluku Governor Abdul Gani Kasuba. The trial was held at the Corruption Court at the Ternate District Court (PN).

At that time, Suryanto explained that the Medan Block referred to the Mayor of Medan Bobby Nasution after being asked by the prosecutor. Meanwhile, on different occasions, Abdul Gani Kasuba actually said that the term refers to Kahiyang as Jokowi's son who is also Bobby's wife.
