When Puan's Speech Received Praise From Gerindra Leaders: It Doesn't Make You Sleepy

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the DPR RI, Habiburokhman praised the speech of DPR Speaker Puan Maharani at the DPR-DPD Joint Session, one of which highlighted the quality of the 2024 General Election. According to her, Puan's speech contained good criticism.

Mbak Puan's speech is extraordinary complete, yes. Critical, all parties are autocritical to ourselves. "Mbak Puan really is a contemporary statesman," said Habiburokhman, Friday, August 16.

In her speech, Puan said that the 2024 election was a place for candidates to compete to please voters for voters. The former Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture also mentioned the people's freedom in the 2024 General Election, although in the form of the question whether the election at that time met the free, honest, and fair requirements.

Not only that, Puan also criticized today's democracy for not running well. In front of invited guests, including President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), Puan also appealed to the elites to carry out politics with national and state values that do not contain their own interests and groups.

Puan's messages also received a lot of positive responses, including Habiburokhman who saw Puan's message as a form of optimality.

"The speech does not make you sleepy, but is full of information and full of hope," said the legislator from the DKI Jakarta I electoral district.

Not only that, Habiburokhman also praised what President Jokowi said at the DPR-DPD Joint Session. In his speech, Jokowi apologized again if his performance was deemed insufficient. Jokowi said, during his 10 years in office, he realized that he was still far from perfect.

"Then also Pak Jokowi's speech, I was quite moved earlier. He apologized to all of us, to the Indonesian people," said Habiburokhman.

"He said he had done his best. But he realized he might not be able to fulfill all the expectations of the Indonesian nation. That is the true attitude of statesmen that we really appreciate Pak Jokowi's attitude earlier," he continued.

Habiburokhman hopes that President-elect Prabowo Subianto can follow in Jokowi's footsteps.

"We hope that future leadership, Pak Prabowo, can be at least as good as Pak Jokowi. Or even better than Pak Jokowi," concluded Habiburokhman.
