DENPASAR - North Kuta Sector Police, Badung Regency, Bali arrested a suspect in the theft of cellphones belonging to a Dutch foreigner in North Kuta, Badung, Bali.

Head of Badung Police Public Relations Ipda I Putu Sukarma said perpetrator I Nengah Arianto (24) was arrested on Friday, August 16.

Sukarma explained that the perpetrators carried out a snatch of the Iphone 13 cellphone belonging to Dutch tourist Bente Van Akkeren from Leiden, Netherlands.

Apart from INA, the police are also still hunting for his colleague Kadek Arta alias Subur who has not been caught.

"The perpetrator grabbed the victim, then took the victim's cellphone quickly," said Sukarma, quoted by ANTARA.

The theft occurred on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at 03.00 WITA, while the victim was riding a Gojek on Jalan Kayu Aya, Kerobokan Kelod Village, North Kuta District, Badung to return to his place of stay.

Arriving at Jalan Beraban, Kerobokan, the two perpetrators came from behind using a motorbike approaching the victim and immediately took the black iPhone 13 which was in the hands of the victim.

The perpetrator INA acted as a jockey (motorcyclist) and rode his friend Kadek Arta alias Subur. After being interrogated, the perpetrator INA admitted to stealing to meet the needs of everyday life.

From INA's statement, it was also revealed that the two of them did not commit theft once. The perpetrator admitted that five times they committed theft at a number of tourist attractions such as Tabanan, Mengwi and Kuta targeted foreigners.

The police also found evidence of the iPhone 13 belonging to the Dutch foreigner and secured the Vario motorbike used by the two perpetrators during the theft.

Until now, the perpetrator Kadek Arta has not been found and is on the police wanted list (DPO).
