PONTIANAK - The West Kalimantan Regional Police (Polda Kalbar) managed to arrest six perpetrators suspected of being involved in an international drug network, with evidence of 19.9 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine and 22,228 ecstasy pills.

"This operation reveals a close relationship between the perpetrators and narcotics syndicate Fredy Pratama who operates at the international level," said Head of Public Relations of the West Kalimantan Police, Kombes Raden Petit Wijaya, as reported by ANTARA, Friday, August 16.

He explained that this arrest stems from information received by the police on Saturday (20/7/2024) regarding narcotics smuggling from Malaysia through the Jagoi Babang border, Bengkayang Regency.

Based on this information, the Directorate of Drug Investigation (Ditresnarkoba) of the West Kalimantan Police immediately carried out an intensive investigation that led to four couriers, namely MK, ML, JK, and YM.

On Wednesday (31/7), the Ditresnarkoba team arrested the four couriers in Pontianak. They were arrested in three different locations, including the basement of the Pontianak Aston Hotel and fire at Mega Mall, with evidence in the form of methamphetamine and ecstasy hidden in a backpack.

"From the results of the search, we found 19.9 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine and more than 22,000 ecstasy pills," he said.

The development of this case brought the police to two other suspects. HB was arrested in parking lot A Yani Mega Mall while moving three bags containing narcotics.

Meanwhile, YD was arrested in Bandung, and allegedly as the person who instructed HB to take the goods in Pontianak. The plan is that the narcotics will be brought to Bandung to be circulated in various nightclubs.

"They have made deliveries three times," he said.

Further investigations revealed that this network uses special applications to communicate and has links to Fredy Pratama's international network.

In addition, the West Kalimantan Police have also frozen dozens of accounts allegedly used by this network to support their operations.

"This case is still being developed in several other provinces, including South Sumatra, South Kalimantan, and East Kalimantan, in order to further uncover the narcotics distribution network involving this international syndicate," said Petit.
