JAKARTA - Acting (Plt) General Chairperson of the Golkar Party Agus Gumiwang confirmed that he would not nominate as General Chair of the Golkar Party.
"I didn't go forward," he said briefly when asked by reporters, Tuesday, August 13.
Agus also did not explain the reason why he did not run as a candidate for general chairman replacing Airlangga Hartarto.
Agus said he was only assigned as Acting Chairman of the Golkar Party to bring two agendas, namely determining the schedule for national leadership meetings (rapimnas) and national deliberations (munas).
Agus explained that the two agendas, especially the National Conference, need to be held as soon as possible because the Golkar Party in the near future will face big state agendas.
To face the state agenda, Agus assessed that Golkar needed a definitive general chairman. Therefore, his party will determine the General Chairperson of Golkar in the National Conference.
"On August 20, we plan to open a rapid national meeting in the morning and then on the evening of August 20, tonight, we plan an agenda for opening the 11th anniversary of the Golkar Party which was also agreed upon and decided to be held in Jakarta," said Agus.
